Dr Michael Taylor (MA 1994, PhD 1999) has announced that he will be leaving the Philadelphia Museum of Art to become the new Director of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College.  After 15 years of service as a curator in the modern and contemporary art department of the Philadelphia Museum, he will begin his new life as a museum director on 15 August 2011.

The Hood Museum has an important collection of more than 65,000 objects. The Museum is also expanding over the next five years and will double its gallery space by 2015. It is very much a teaching museum, as opposed to a museum that teaches, and Michael will be working closely with the students and faculty, particularly in the art history, anthropology, and studio arts departments.

The Courtauld is extremely proud of Michael for this wonderful new position.
